Greening the Riverside: NSTP DDM 1A Supports 3rd Lambago Tree Growing
The
Liceo U NSTP Department, through the DDM 1A class under the supervision of Ms.
Destiny Mantilla, actively participated in the 3rd Lambago Tree Growing
Activity held at Barangay Macasandig Riverside, near the Balulang–Tibasak
Bridge. This meaningful environmental initiative took place as part of the
monthly fiesta activities of Cagayan de Oro City.
The
event gathered participants from various sectors, the Local Government Unit
(LGU), Non-Government Organizations, and the academe, demonstrating a strong
sense of unity and shared responsibility in environmental stewardship. Hosted
by the City Vice Mayor (VM Jocelyn “Bebot” Rodriguez) in partnership with the
2nd District Congressional Office (Cong. Rufus Rodriguez), the tree-growing
activity aimed to promote ecological restoration and preserve the riverside
area against soil erosion and flooding.
The
DDM 1A students, together with other volunteers, planted Lambago trees along
the riverside, contributing to the city’s ongoing efforts toward a greener and
more sustainable community. Their active engagement not only supports the
environmental agenda of the city but also aligns with the NSTP’s mission of
fostering civic consciousness and community service among students.
This
participation reflects the commitment of the NSTP Department to instill in its
students the values of environmental awareness, volunteerism, and social
responsibility—values that go beyond the classroom and into real-world
community action.
