LICEO U GRANTED CHED AUTONOMOUS STATUS

Liceo de Cagayan University proudly celebrates a major institutional milestone after being granted Autonomous Status by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) during the 31st CHED Founding Anniversary and 5th National Higher Education Day held on May 13, 2025, at the Luxent Hotel, Quezon City.

Representing the University during the awarding ceremony were University President Dr. Alain Marc P. Golez and Chief Operations Officer Dr. Denise O. Orong.

As an Autonomous Private Higher Education Institution (PHEI), Liceo U is now granted academic freedom to innovate its programs, establish international partnerships, enjoy priority access to CHED incentives, and operate with reduced regulatory oversight.

CHED Chairperson Dr. J. Prospero “Popoy” De Vera III emphasized in his keynote address, “Autonomous status is not just a recognition—it is a responsibility to lead innovation, assure quality, and uplift Philippine higher education.”

This recognition affirms Liceo U’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and service as it continues to mold globally competitive and community-responsive graduates.
