Liceo de Cagayan University further strengthened its commitment to ethical and responsible research through the participation of Chief Operations Officer Dr. Denise O. Orong and Liceo Research Ethics Director Dr. Dominic Polancos in the four-part masterclass, “Responsible AI Use in Research: From Prompting to Declaration,” held on August 19–20, 2026, at Silliman University.

Organized by the Dr. Mariano C. Lao Global Studies Center, the two-day masterclass was facilitated by Dr. Dave E. Marcial and equipped academics and researchers with practical approaches to integrating generative artificial intelligence into scholarly work while upholding research rigor, transparency, privacy, and accountability.

The sessions covered the foundations of responsible generative AI use and ethical prompting, AI-assisted literature review and evidence synthesis, data analysis and visualization in health and multidisciplinary research, and standardized declarations for the transparent disclosure of AI use in research.

The participation of Dr. Orong and Dr. Polancos supports Liceo U’s continuing efforts to strengthen research governance and promote the responsible use of emerging technologies throughout the research process, from problem conceptualization and evidence gathering to data analysis and publication.

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape academic and research practices, Liceo de Cagayan University remains committed to ensuring that innovation advances alongside integrity, accountability, and responsible scholarship.
