Liceo Football Team Finishes First Runner-Up in Fortiz Cup

The Liceo de Cagayan University football team, the Liceo Titans, emerged as first runner-up in the Men’s Open Category of the 1st Fortiz Football Cup 2026, held on July 26 at MGV Sportspark in Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City.
The University fielded two squads—Liceo Titans A and Liceo Titans B—in the 14-team competition. Both teams mounted competitive elimination-round campaigns, with Team A recording three draws and one win and Team B posting two draws and one win.
Team A advanced to the semifinals after securing a wild card berth on the strength of its overall record. It then won its semifinal match to earn a place in the championship round.
In the final, the squad faced a formidable opponent and finished as first runner-up.
The result capped a disciplined showing by the Liceo delegation, marked by composure, collective effort, and competitive resolve. The tournament likewise gave the student-athletes valuable match experience as the University continues to build its football program for future competitions.
