By: Hezron A. Daba
JANUARY 30, 2026 – The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVP-AA), in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President for Human Resources (OVP-HR), conducted the third installment of the Faculty Development Program (FDP) series for the academic year. Held at the Main Campus, the activity gathered more than 150 faculty members from various colleges and departments who participated in the timely training focused on the role of teachers in supporting students’ mental health.
Dr. Rosella O. Ortiz, Vice President for Academic Affairs, facilitated the whole-day activity, which featured a combination of a formal lecture, interactive group games, think-pair-share exercises, and an assessment of one’s adversity quotient. Prior to the actual training session, participants were encouraged to identify their personality types through the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) test, which served as a key component of the program’s learning activities.
The seminar-workshop aimed to help the teaching workforce gain a deeper understanding of students’ mental health concerns and equip them with practical strategies for fostering a supportive, inclusive, and mentally healthy learning environment.
