Team LDCU SPED meets EAST

October 14, 2016

This school year 2016-2017 right at our College of Teacher Education major in Special Education Team its students skyrocketed their God-given skills in sharing their expertise through a seminar they conducted last October 11, 2016 at East City Central School Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City.

It all started with a sincere desire to conduct a simple round table discussion for our dear parents/caregivers and teachers of children with disabilities at East City Central School, which eventually led to a collaborative effort between both institutions whereby the community service project theme titled: Teacher – Parent Collaboration: A Holistic Approach For Dealing With Children With Disabilities.

Following the principles of Outcomes Based Education, the college was able to impart to the learners the skills to demonstrate their knowledge in different and unique ways which was organized and facilitated by the 4th year Special Education Students, under the course subject title SPED 22: Organization and Administration.

We are proud to say that because of the activities, LDCU received a warm commendation by no less than the CDO DepEd, SPED Division Head, Dr. Shirley A. Merida who imparted a wonderful message in our pure intention to partner with them in this cause, specifically in the issue of  teacher- parent empowerment.

Through the outpouring support of the entire College of Education Faculty, the project was made possible and it was indeed a successful one.
