The Liceo de Cagayan University DSC_0581– Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (Liceo U JPIA) emerged as the Overall Champion in the recently concluded 2015 Accountancy Week Celebration after bagging several major awards from various events.

Liceo U JPIA took home major awards from the 4th PICPA Short Film Festival, Mr. & Ms. JPIA 2015, and the search for the Most Outstanding Accountancy Student (MOAS). “Marah”, the official entry in the 4th PSFF bagged the major awards winning Best Actor for Brylle Labuanan, Best Actress for Raifah Launto, 2nd Best Short Film, and the Top Grossing Film of the festival. The delegates for Mr. & Ms. JPIA also shone with Brylle Labuanan and Lindy Sario winning Mr. JPIA World and Ms. JPIA World respectively.

“The entire Liceo U JPIA community is very delighted for this recognition. All the hard work and efforts of the people behind this success paid off. We really wanted to showcase what Liceo U Accountancy students can offer. We have a lot of talented students in our department, and to be rewarded with this means so much to us.” said Liceo U JPIA President, Randy D. Regencia about winning the championship. It was a double celebration for the JPIA President who was also awarded 1st Runner-up in the Most Outstanding Accountancy Student search. “I did not expect it. I focused on something more important. To me, as JPIA President, the priority is to secure the championship for Liceo U JPIA and for our university. But I was among the awardees, it came as a surprise but all glory to God, he made all these possible.”

Liceo U JPIA were also declared champion in the General Knowledge Quiz Bowl after the team of Randy Regencia, Marl Malamug, Russell Salvan, and Chiquilyn Galdo bested all the other teams from the other schools. Two other students from Liceo U were also finalists in the MOAS search, Noel Salcedo was a Top 10 awardee (Third) and Reynante Panogalon was a Top 20 awardee. The overall champions also bagged awards in the other competitions including the Catwalk, The Voice of JPIA, Cheerchant, Ballgames, and Larong Pinoy.

The 2015 Accountancy Week Celebration was spearheaded by the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) – Mis Or Chapter in coordination with the Cagayan de Oro City Confederation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (CCJPIA) and participated by different colleges and universities from Cagayan de Oro, Iligan and Bukidnon Chapters.
