Services:

Instructional Media Center

Audio-visual materials are for library and classroom instruction use only. Students may also avail of the audio-visual materials upon presenting a recommendation or note from their respective teachers to the IMC Librarian, subject to the approval of the Director of Libraries and IMC.

TV and VHS are for library use only except for special occasions such as accreditation and outreach program. Video camera must be used only to record official school activities and to be operated by an IMC-recognized video/camera man.

Faculty members who may want to use the video camera shall provide their own tapes, except when the event is institutional. Two days prior to use, a letter of request should be submitted to the Director of Libraries and IMC for approval and for the reservation.

The endorsing officer and the borrower assume full responsibility for whatever damage incurred during the use of the equipment / materials. The borrowers must leave their I.D. upon borrowing and sign the card attached to the library materials.

All borrowed A / V materials and equipment must be returned immediately after use. Reservation form for materials, equipment, and viewing room is available.

Multimedia / Internet Center

Students can link globally through the Internet which offers a rich and rapid expanding storehouse of information for research works.

Reservation for use is also done at the LICEONET Center. A multimedia / Internet aide is assigned to assist the users.

Viewing Room

It is a 50-seater room intended for viewing audio-visual materials. Reservation of this facility should be done 3 days prior to use at the Instructional Media Center by signing the reservation form.

The form shall be signed by the faculty member, head of the department, and the Director of Libraries and IMC.

Exhibit Room

Display area for artwork of the university's artists and those outside the university.

Students who want to use the Exhibit Room should coordinate with the Sining Biswal, the official student art club.

The faculty members and institutions outside the university can also use the Exhibit Room by coordinating with the Director of Libraries and IMC.

Technical Services Selection / Acquisition: Handles the selection, ordering, and acquisition of books and other materials which are either purchased or received as gifts or donations. Cataloging: Takes care of the bibliographic description, classification, and the physical processing of materials. Indexing: Provides appropriate subject headings to all indexed articles from journals and magazines for easy retrieval of information. Bibliography: Provides a description and identification of the editions, dates of issue, authorship, and typography of books or other written materials. Binding: Takes charge of the binding and repair of library materials. It also serves the binding needs of the different departments of the university.

Other Services

Current Awareness: The library publishes and distributes the list of current acquisition and the list of newly acquired periodicals to the different deans. A copy is posted on the bulletin board.

User's Education: The library offers orientation and instruction lectures to freshmen students every beginning of the semester. These lectures are designed to familiarize the students with the essential tools for learning and with the library services. A yearly seminar-workshop on the effective use of the library is given to the newly-hired faculty members.

Reference Questions: These questions are accommodated by all sections of the library. A box is provided particularly in the Reference Section of the Main Library where you can drop any type of question that the Reference Librarian basically answers. This service is also available in other sections or unit libraries depending on the type of query.

CDS / ISIS (Computerized Database System / International Society for Information Sciences): Students can search for periodical articles electronically by subject. The computer terminal is situated at the Periodical Section, 2nd floor of the Main Library.

Photocopy Services: A photocopier machine is available at the first level on Monday and Friday at 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
