History
The opening of the High School department in 1980 and
the booming of the Nursing department urged the administration to
transfer the Nursing or HRD and Arts library to the newly opened
Rodolfo N. Pelaez (RNP) Hall at Patag road. Miss. Epifania Pialogo
took care of the HRD library while Emiliana Albejaron Dahilog was in
the Arts & Science section then later extended her duty to the
newly created Graduate Library. Miss. Julieta D. Gaabucayan was
designated as the Basic Education Librarian.
In 1985, Miss. Ermelinda Gaa was hired as the new Head Librarian who
stayed on up to May 1988.
The Administration with bigger plans for the school, saw the need to
upgrade the quality ot the library. They were on a look-out of
potential faculty members for furthering the school's educational
mission. Thus, in 1988, Mrs. Linda L. Mondoņedo, a new High School
teacher recruit was appointed as the Chief Librarian. The following
year, she joined the other faculty members who were recipient of the
Rodolfo N. Pelaez Foundation Inc. scholarship. She finished her
Masters in Library Science at the University of the Philippines,
Diliman, Quezon City in 1990 and pursued her doctoral degree in
Management at Liceo de Cagayan University in 1996.
The increasing population of the school made it inevitable to build
a new library. Hence, in 1990, a new two-story building, situated at
the heart of the university was inaugurated. Aside from the Main
Library, the school has two (2) other unit libraries. The Basic
Education Library, located at Rodolfo N. Pelaez Hall for the
elementary and high schools students and faculty members and the
Graduate Library, located at the Arts and Science building, second
floor right wing for graduate students and other scholarly
researchers.
Under Dr. Mondoņedo's leadership, a Library Committee was organized
on July 22, 1988, composed of representatives from the different
academic department to assist the librarian build the library
collection. This committee was officially approved by the Board on
October 17, 1988 with the following functions:
- Study the library needs in view of
the school's academic program;
- Advice/suggest the Chief Librarian
in the development of library resources;

with other academic activities of the school;

The Library Committee
supports the library activities especially the yearly National Book
Week celebration and during PACU-COA accreditation.
One of the biggest joint project of the library and the Library
Committee was the fund raising campaign by sponsoring the Folkloric
Dance Group on June 27, 1990 to raise funds in order to acquire
books and audio-visual materials for the library. The project
generated an amount of P24,000.00 which was all used to buy books
and audio-visual materials.
The Library Committee also organized a Bibliophile Society composed
of student body organization from the different departments. The
primary purpose of this club is to assist the Library Committee on
all their projects.
Since the granting of the university status in 1997, the library
works and collection are computerized for easy access of readers. It
is connected to the international highway of information through the
