To kick off this year’s celebration of National Book Week, a story telling contest was held at the Viewing Room of the University’s main library, the Elsa Pelaez-Pelaez Library, at 9:30 in the morning of November 21, 2011.

Two student-representatives per college performed in front of an appreciative audience and stern-looking judges. It was apparent that the College of Arts and Science, the College of Business and Accountancy, and the College of Education brought forth their best students to the competition.

The contest pieces were mainly from a folklore writer, Damiana Eugenio, known for her stories evocative of Philippine culture.

The closing program, which includes the awarding of winners, will be held at AVR 2 on November 24, 2011.

The week-long celebration will include events such as:
  • A screening of the film “Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros.” At the Viewing Room on Nov 21, 2011 at 2:00 in the afternoon (a P5 donation from viewers will be appreciated).
  • A Graphic Design Competition for the school’s library logo. Deadline for submission is on November 21, 2011 at 5:00 in the afternoon.
  • A symposium on the importance of books at Liceo’s AVR 2 on November 24, 2011, at 9:00 to 10:00 in the morning.
