As the 12 lovely candidates appeared onstage last night, tension and excitement filled the Liceo Civic Center as students, teachers, and administrators hoped to see their candidates clinch the crown in this year’s Ms. Intramurals 2011.
Clad in their casual attire during their first exposure, the candidates brought the house down. The colleges cheered for their candidates. Special and minor awards were then given to the candidates: Ms. Friendship - #6 Ms. Jessica Dominguez, College of Law Enforcement and Public Safety Ms. Photogenic - #3 Ms. Ai Japhnie Nakamura, High School Department Best in Fashion Photography - #3 Ms. Ai Japhnie Nakamura, High School Department Best in Casual Wear - #3 Ai Japhnie Nakamura, High School Department The New Athena was this year’s theme for the Ms. Intramurals. In Greek mythology, Athena was the goddess of wisdom, courage, inspiration, civilization, warfare, strength, strategy, female arts, crafts, justice, and skill. Harking back to ancient Greece was a way of paying homage to the civilization that brought the world the Olympics. When they essayed their sports attire, the candidates also tried to portray the qualities of the new Athena: wholesome feats of brilliance. And then Liceo’s very own Next Moves Modern Dance Company, which is set to represent Mindanao this Friday in Globe Telecom’s Campus Connect Super Showdown talent competition in Manila, stunned the audience with a spectacular number that proved its winning moves.
